S.T.E.A.M. PRESENTATION
CONNECTION TO STEAM DISCIPLINES
SCIENCE
Digital learning has an abundance of benefits besides increased accessibility. Online learning has actually been shown to increase Learning Retention Rates from 8 percent to 25-60 percent. Scientific studies at universities such as Arizona State University have found digital learning positively correlates with higher graduation rates. This is likely due to online learning having features the student is likely to respond to such as colors, graphics, and sections.
TECHNOLOGY
My main technology is my app. This app would be available on both iOS and Android. My app is fully functional and can be edited through the app-building software. I used web-based services to create my app which will be compatible with different school districts and be suitable for most, if not all, learning models.
ENGINEERING
For my engineering connection, I designed my app and built it. I used different ways to do this such as finding the URL for apps and integrating google sheets into my app. For this app, I used steps of the Engineering Design Process such as background research on the online learning education system, brainstorming of different features, and making changes based on new data and new presented problems.
ART
I designed my logo for my app as well as the different features. For my logo, I decided to use a pencil to represent the educational aspect of my app and a dark blue to compliment the academic nature of the app. I also picked the icons for my app layout to correspond with their function, such as using books, globes, and social media icons.
MATH
In recent years, the e-learning market has increased exceptionally.  By the year 2026, the market will be worth $50 billion. Not only has it recently increased due to the pandemic (with more than half of elementary and high school students studying virtually only) it is said to increase the amount of material learned by more than 50 percent in the same time period. This proves the productivity increase with my app as well as its need.

WHY IS THIS APP IMPORTANT?
Why will this app will be able to help students function in many school settings?
MANY STUDENTS PREFER USING THEIR MOBILE DEVICE FOR SCHOOL
Not only are mobile devices easier to have access to than laptops and other devices, many students prefer to use their cellphone to work on school work. A study conducted by EducationData, "Average percentage of course related activities students would like to complete on their mobile devices", has found more than 80 percent of students would like to complete some sort of activities on their phone. This app would be accessible on both IOS and Android, and would increase the mobile-friendliness of online learning.
